Change in feeding routine, oh my!

So I usually drop the corys sinking wafers after lights out on the tank. Last night I fell asleep early and didn't drop Cory food. So this morning before the lights came on (they are on a timer) I dropped a few in. Well, a little later my husband asked me what was up with the corys - they were out and about! He saw four at once!
Our aeneus emerald corys have been super shy and we don't see them much. Not seeing them is a bummer. So I think I will switch feelings to the AM like I did today and hopefully we will see them more often.
Just wanted to share because I was so pleased to see their funny selves!

I feed all my fish at the same time. I think they will get use to you feeding them during the day and will stop being so shy. Mine wait in the corner by the chair where I sit staring at me. Alison

Okay aliray I tried feeding everyone at once. But all my other fish finished the flakes and have come to the bottom to eat the sinking pellets. I dropped probably a couple more than the corys need, but still last time I saw my platy gorge himself on one he looked uncomfortably bloated for 2 days. Any tips or tricks to find a balance between feeding with the lights on & making sure the corys get some?

I've been concerned about this issue for months now. I have a DG who gorges on pellets. If he sees them, he goes for them; if he sees the cories gathering around them, he goes for them, and scares the cories away. I started to feed the cory pellets at night, in the dark, all house lights off, and I drop them in one corner. Several minutes later, in very dI'm light, I did not see Mr. Gourami anywhere at all, so I have assumed he was "sleeping" or just unaware of the pellets. Today someone told me, "No, he is sure to know about them whether it's dark or light, and go eat them." Mr. DG bloated terribly on an algae pellet several weeks ago; I'm as concerned about him eating too much as I am the cories eating too little. A conundrum.

You could try breaking up the pellets or wafers into smaller pieces and sprinkle them around, the corys should be able to find them hopefully before the platy grabs them all. Alison
