I have a pH of 8.0 and hard water and I was wondering they'll be happy in my tank or if I should return them

In the wild they come from slightly alkaline water (around 7.3) so you arent too far off that. Im sure others keep them in or around your ph level, so id have said that you were ok. What is your gh and kh?

I don't know I don't have the tools to measure those
I just used a test strip and it came out as hard

If you have test strips they should show both. Some lable GH as hardness and KH as alkalinity.

Keep an eye on the fish, they are likely adjusting to your water. But in the future better research before buying fish.

I usually do but I was recommended them and I just didn't really think to question it so I just sort of went with it, also I have a high KH tank with high GH as well

No need to justify. I just gave advise for future stocking decisions. ;)

Allright. So the strips didn't come with a scale?

Oh they have numbers above the colored squares so my GH is about 150ppm and my KH is around 170-180ppm

do you think theyll breed in those parameters

Physically it is unusual and almost impossible KH is higher than GH. Which leads me to suspect you might have made a user mistake (not your fault, general problem with teststrips). Whenever two test fields mix the readings become faulty. Usually KH and pH are next to each other. When they mix both get higher readings than they actually are.
So I would repeat the test to make sure there is no error involved.
Here are some tipps I wrote up lately in another thread, hope they help.
