Anybody know where I can get the Cauliflower swordtail fish in US? I was lucky enough to get them at the local store however they can't get them anymore from a breeder in st. Louis. Both males died and only left with females.

Please do point me to a right direction if you know anywhere that sell them.

Thanks!

I don't think they'll be sold at every lfs in the US. They're not too common yet.
I assume that they'll be offered on Aquabid.

How much are they selling in your county? I don't think they are expensive at all if you can get them in USA. Not sure why folks aren't breeding these and selling them in the US compared to the popularity of Guppies. I'm planning to start a breeding project of these fish. I just need to find them now.

Overhere, they're known but still quite rare. At this point, I've heard that the common price at an lfs would be € 15,00 - € 20,00 each. Some may ask more.

Besides the cauliflower, there's also the saber sword. It's practically the same. Just the shape of the sword is different.
But I don't know what these fish would cost in the US. Could be cheaper or more expensive than overhere but still more expensive than an average sword.

Do you mean swordtails in general or specifically this kind of swordtail that you don't understand that people don't breed them in comparison to guppies? If it's this kind than I do understand. For it's not being sold at an average lfs. And probably the price won't be too friendly in comparison to an average swordtail.

These cauliflowers are bred in Asia a lot. You should be able to get your hands on some.

Dear Bro, you know any breeder OR suggest any name..
I don't know if you're on facebook as well. But there's a group called : International Xiphophorus Breeder. It's a Fb group by a friend of mine by the name of Rainer Schulz. He also calls himself Rainer Rekord. I'm a member overthere as well. You could ask overthere if someone's willing to ship. For cauliflowers are posted overthere pretty often.

I now have cauliflower sabre tail swords and they seem to be very prolific .. I have many fry now ..I need to video my swords ..
I was told they were going to be difficult ? Although I have not had them a long time they don't seem to be much trouble yet .

Good Luck, but keep a close watch on those fry. I hope you get fry that match the parents fins. In the past I've seen the big fin females throw less than stellar fry because someone hit them with a male of another line. Got my fingers crossed that you didn't get taken advantage of.

I am actually from Canada. Its a bit of a pain trying to bring in fish into the country as shipping is super expensive and there are a few regulations to follow. I tried to actually buy some off of Aquabid the other day but the guy would not work with me. I actually had these guys years ago and they were all giant beauties at a length of at least 3 inches. I ve looked for years in Canada and have not been able to find anything close to these. We just don't have the selection that you have down south

No, 1 hour from the Montana border. I did find some in California but the guy would not ship, and I can understand as there are some hassles involved shipping north. Its easier for me to cross the border and just carry them across then try and ship across the border. But a drive to Maine from here would be like 3 days driving:)

This wholesaler is called Ruinemans. They do have an office in the States as well.

Unfortunately their site says they won't sell to individuals though, only to retailers. I discovered them (online) some time ago while searching for uncommon corys, and found their restriction when trying to register.

Might be able to get an LFS to order from them for you, though.

Thanks, I will look into it. I have tried LFS before and the ones here always get the plain red velvet ones in. Most places I have inquired to personally in the states usually will not ship to Canada. I am looking at trying to ship directly from Indonesia as they seem to have a lot of these type there. Just a little worried on the cost side.

I wasn't suggesting a trip to Miane..I live in NY..
But I have a customer / buddy who lives just over the boarder [your side ] but works everyday in Maine .
I ship fish to him at work and he drives them home..Figured if you were close I would hit him up ..
Look for a good transhipper for importing ..

Hey no worries. If my wife would let me I would literally drive to Maine:). Thank you for trying to help tho, much appreciated! I have contacted 2 Tran shippers so far and the one that got back to me said they do not have access to these fish.

Thanks for that. Have not had much luck with the local stores. They just bring in the regular velvet swords

That´s an option to order it through an lfs. Me myself have purchased them at the dutch headquarters itself. Certain species that they have are provided by a good friend of mine. And he had them from me or I´ve arranged it that he got them. He breeds them in mass production and provides Ruinemans and some other wholesalers with these livebearers.

Well, shipping and insurance costs can be high. The cauliflower and the saber version are widely bred in different asian countries.

You are lucky being overseas and having the connections. There seems to be so much more selection there then here. I know a guy here that brought in L236 Saltwater pleco s from Germany in but at a huge cost as there are no breeders here yet. I have friends that go to Holland every year, maybe I’ll try and hit them up to bring me back some fish:)

Scratch the saltwater, I don’t even know what autocorrect was correcting:)

Figured it out it was supposed to say L236 super white plecos

I happen to be planning a trip for 3 /21 to a fish store that has the L236 now !
More expensive for ONE medium then my group of 5 L046 [ which were not cheap !] !
L236 Super White (Hypancistrus sp.)LIMITED QUANTITIES
I looked at them last time but really prefer the L046 ..

An acquaintance of mine comes over from Canada (Montreal) each year to visit her family. She's dutch but lives in Canada. When she's here, she visits me, some other breeders and a number of stores. The fish she's collected overhere will be taken to Canada. She does that every year. That's a lot cheaper than a special shipment.

Yes, in Europe there's much more choice in the commercial and rare livebearer species in comparison to the States and Canada. When I used to live in Canada I haven't seen that much diversity. Same goes when I've visited the States for a couple of times.

There are a lot of farmers that came over from Holland in my area. They bring a lot of equipment over but in giant shipping containers. Fish probably won‘t make the 1 or 2 month journey:). I‘ll have to mention it to my friends in passing as they usually go for a month and its to visit family. Most likely I’ll bite the bullet and ship it myself and hope they make it over.

Have you seen the L236 SW. They are super beautiful with a mostly white body and black squiggles. If they were not 750.00 I would grab them in a minute. I have the reg L236 that bred for me and all I get are the brown ones and some yellow ones.
