Cats Are So Great!

IMG_0194.JPG I grew up as a dog person, but for the last 10 years or so, I have just kept kitties. And fish. I have become so passionate about my cats! Learning about them, what makes them tick, loving and appreciating them and sharing relationships. Cats are just capable of so much love and affection and trust. All my kittie friends are rescues from local shelters. How anyone could leave their furry friends at a shelter I will never understand. I just had no idea of how rewarding it is to live with these guys! Here they are, caught them all in one place this morning...So... hooray for cats!

I love your Siamese! Left to right, Zozo (gray-brown tabby), Mr. Fluffy (white with gray patches), and my newest addition Chloe (beautiful calico). Chloe just turned 1 this spring. Mr. Fluffy is 3 and is the most affectionate kitty I have ever met. He just follows me all day from room to room, and never gets tired of love. He's also the undisputed cat boss. Chloe is super-soft and sweet, but has a ferocious hunting instinct that makes her the most fun to play with. ZoZo is 11 and kinda resents Chloe since we brought her home as a kitten. There's an uneasy peace now, though, and everyone is relaxed and comfortable. ZoZo is definitely the most shy and reserved of the 3, but will love on you as long as the other cats aren't around to dissuade her.

Wow that orange and white kitty looks just like my old friend Owen. Owen had the same coloration, but no long hair. He spent some time as a stray as a kitten and always had a passion for the outdoors, he was always trying to dash out the front door. Occasionally he would slip by and I'd have to follow him into the bushes and catch him. Sadly, one day my wife accidentally let him out, and couldn't catch him. In the past, he would always show up at the door in a couple hours, but we never saw him again. No one responded to my posters or my internet posts. That was 3 years ago. Owen had a collar, too with our phone number. He was a member of my family for 7 years, and I'm still mystified, hoping that maybe, somewhere, he found safe haven with someone.
The other cat looks like my Chloe. Is that a calico?
