I have been netting RCA out of my tank for a month. Each time I think I got them all, a shrimplet I could not see grows enough to be seen. For netting them I find if I corner the shrimp with the net, they tend to just jump in it, then I pull pull up on the net holding it vertically, creating a little sack they can' t jump from. For livebearer fry, I use 2 nets.

Lower the water level and take any ornaments out of the tank.

Use a paper plate or something similar to guide them into the net or even better, two nets if you have an extra.

Take a small plastic soda (or water) bottle and rinse it out well with hot water. Remove the cap and cut off the top just below where the sides straighten out. Invert the top and press it into the bottom. Now bait your trap with a green bean, algae wafer, or pellet and place it in the tank. You may need to add a stone or other weight to keep it down. Check back in an hour or so and remove any fish or shrimp that have been caught. Repeat as needed. If you need a smaller hole to keep larger fish out you can drill the cap and put it back on.
