Cataracts in betta fish? Or Bac/fungal infection?

Not sure what it is. He could use a little immune boost from some medication from recovering from fin rot and age. But today one of his eyes looked off. Not poped out or anything. But it looked similar to when he had Popeye in Febuary and he was healing from it. Hes in a 5 gallon tank currently with 1 piece of driftwood and lives plants. I do have another tank going too. I wanted to medicate him with Lifeguard but id hate to take him out of his own tank. But maybe I should clean up the algae in his tank and medicate him in a 2 gallon i have? Not sure whats best. I know it might stress him out to move him but I want him to feel the best he can. He always has IAL tannins in his water. Thought I should medicate just in case he doesn't actually have cataracts. Please help!

Tank is cycled and 25% water change weekly. He just got some garlic added to his diet.

Do you know the nitrate level? High nitrates can cause cloudy eyes. But it could also be an injury, genetics, or some type of infection. Can you post a picture?

Cloudy eyes could be a sign of ammonia damage. How closely are monitoring these levels, and do you have any actual filtration in the tank?

I've tried posting pictures before but he's so fast its hard to get them. Ive heard that it could be a scale over his eye but I'm pretty sure its age related. ill try and take some right now

i do weekly water changes on Mondays then on Wednesday check parameters. the tank has built in filtration but i have all 3 types of filter media present.
