I am starting a breeding apistogrammas, and know that they enjoy leaves to hide in. Everyone recommends almond leaves but where I`m from they are not easy to come by and are quite expensive.
What other leave litter can I use to lower the ph and help the fish feel more secure?

Oak, maple, beach, etc. Most hard wood leafs are safe to use, just stick to using dried ones that have fallen during autumn.

There are certain places to buy IAL relatively cheap as they come in bulk. I think this is one I've been eyeing.

Sometimes mentioning where you live can help. Members that live in that area may be able to assist.

Ouch. Thats a fair distance away from it all!

I may suggest consider shipping from Brazil or similar, that may be a little easier to source?

However, in saying that a site mentioned that these trees are known to spread through much of tropics of the Americas.... so maybe day trips to the local beach or something?
