Cat Too Heavy For Aquarium?

We have a 32 gallon fish tank with a light across it and our cat likes to jump on top of the light. I am wondering if the fish tank could break from our cat climbing on top of the light? She is a big cat and I don't know what aquariums can handle. I'm more worried about the tank in the long run than the light. If we got a cover would she still be too heavy for the tank?

I have tried the sticky tape to keep her off, and aluminum foil, and I can't close the door to keep her off. Also she has partially fallen in. Falling in hasn't stopped her though. She likes water

Yes they are curious little beasts, but I can’t see this ending well. I would definitely get a lid, and try to keep your cat off as much as you can for the time being!

 

Will she be too heavy even with a lid? I don't know if I can keep her off when I'm not home. It might be a choice between keeping the fish tank and the cat.

 

Depends what kind of lid, but I think a lid will definitely help, and probably support her. How big is the tank?

 

It's 32 gallons and like 36x18

 

With that big of a tank, if you get a lid it should support your cats weight!

I wouldnt be worry about the weight, I would be worry about all that car hair going into your fish tank.

I have to fish cat hair out of my tank almost every day, and I have a lid. Sighs.

i'd definitely get a lid if I were you.
