Cartridge Filter to Fluval Aqua Clear

Hello!
Today I decided to switch my filter. Right now I use a basic filter that came with my tank. My tank is cycled. How can I transfer that cartridges bacteria to the AquaClear?

They do not use the same system.
You can see the different styles of filtration. Please help me!

 

Cut the filter floss out and place it on top of the sponge in the AC. Then a little more floss and then the bio rings. Done.

 

Take the cartridge and cut all of the floss off of the frame of it shake out the charcoal then put your AC sponge then the cut filter floss then the ceramic media on top. Save the charcoal bag for if you ever need to medicate or clear up smelly fish water.

So just cut that piece out? I can just use that to replace the AC carbon pack?

Yup. If your not gonna use that filter cut as much of the floss off as possible as to not disturb the BB growing on it.

The stuff inside is carbon you can just shake that out in a trash barrel and use just the cotton. Cut all of it off the frame. Save the cotton and toss the carbon. its most likely expired and not necessary anyways
