I just got a mystery snail. And he's closed at the bottom of the tank. I just did a water change. And I know that in my area my water has a high pH. My fish are happy and seem healthy and ok. But what do I do to help Carl.

When I first got a nerite snail, he stayed in the same spot for a day or two, and then finally started moving around and he's been fine since. I'd give him a little time to get used to things.

Still no sign of him

Have you tried picking him up and gently touching it to see if it moves? Or smell it - if its dead, they smell really bad.
I had one black mystery snail that was closed up for over a week - it was about the time I was switching from my 5 gallon tank ( never got cycled properly ) to my 36 gallon. Then one day, about 8 days later, he was moving around and eating like normal.
Good luck! Hope he's okay....

I see him half way out of his shell but not how he was at the store. No eyeballs or feelers. I don't know how to help him be happier.

How is your water readings? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates?
What does he eat? Is he in the same spot every day?
I'm not sure what else you can do...... Hope he comes around soon!

My readings were great last time I checked.

The answer: he is nocturnal. I was up at an awkward hour and he was moving all over the place. Still no antenna out? Not all the way out.

I rarely see the antenna on my snails. Not sure what behavior you're waiting to see from your new friend. But if he's moving around and all, he's probably fine.
