Cardinal Tetra With Big Belly?

I have a total of fifteen cardinal tetra's in my aquarium and all of them are doing fine. There is one exception, this dude. He isn't acting strange in any sort of way but his belly is huge. He is twice as big as all of my other tetra's. Is he just chubby, or is there something wrong with him? He's been like this for two months, since the day that I bought him.

Couldn't get a good shot of him, hopefully these will do!

It's a she and she is gravid and maybe a bit overfed.

It’s defintely not overfed. You’re telling me that she is carrying eggs? She has been carrying them for a month or more now. How long does it take before the starts laying them?

Sometimes they never will.
It is a healthy looking female to me.

Is there a way to make her spawn? I could put her in a 56L aquarium. But its completely empty as it is my hospitaal tank

Just spottend a second cardinaal tetra with a big belly. Its half the size of the one on the picture but still bigger then the rest.

I'd simply leave her Marijn.
They need pretty acidic water and fry is quite hard to raise.

I think your cardinals are maturing and differences between males and females are becoming clear.

It’s definitely a she. Maybe overfeed. They are hard to breed in a hard water. Usually you are looking for a very soft acidic water for them to breed and babies to survive.
