Hi everyone! I have almost finished cycling my 55 gallon tank. Filtration is two Aquaclear 70s on either end with pre-intake sponges and a sponge filter. I want to create a dazzling cardinal tetra only tank! I see a lot of varying numbers online about how many to get to stock the tank. What would ya’ll recommend? Thank you in advance!

I'm curious about what numbers you'll get, but off the top of my head I don't think 75 would be too many.

What else is in the tank besides filters?
I think scaping and fish numbers go hand in hand. You don't want it to look like the tetra tank at the LFS. I think.

I definitely think 65-75 is a good number range. Like mentioned above though it would depend on how you scaped the tank. Pictures would help if you don't mind me asking?

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses! I appreciate all the helpful feedback. Below is a picture of the tank. All artificial except for the mountain stone. Pre-filter intakes aren’t in yet but will be coming in the mail this week.

For artificial, that's very well done. I can see fish being happy in there.
Maybe add some top floaters for shade. No fuss no muss. Toss it in and scoop it out and toss it out as it covers the tank's surface.

Thank you! I had thought about including some top floaters since like you said they are pretty low fuss. Might take you up on that!

I'm not normally a fan of artificial plants either, but your tank looks really cool and natural.

I hope you post pictures of your tank once you get your fish. :)

I love the idea of a large school of cardinals but i would want a few other fish to add interest and to more utilize the entire space. I would go with 20-30 cardinals maybe 5 corys, a few hatchets for the top and maybe a betta. I have your exact setup [a 55 with 2 AQ70's] but only 7 cardnials and many other fish.
