Carbon Filter To Cycle New Tank?

I have a cycled 3.5 gallon Betta tank with a tetra whisper filter and I am getting ready to start a new 20 gallon tank taht will have an AquaClear 50 filter on it.
I am wondering if I can use the seeded carbon cartridge from my cycles tank on my new tank to aid in the cycle? And if so, how would that work and when would it be safe to add fish?

Are you moving the fish in the 3.5 to the 20, or just needing to seed the media?

Just wanting to seed the media. If I can’t use the cartridge, I will start cycling using ammonium and Dr Tim’s One and Only

Just take a portion of the media from your 3.5 so it doesn’t disturb that cycle and add to the aq50 for the 20 gallon and check the parameters a day later to see where your at. Turn the 3.5 filter off cut some of the poly fill off of it and if needed remove some of the carbon from it so it doesn’t run through the filter or out into the tank Good luck!!
