Hi everyone,

Super confused about my Beta. I have noticed fin rot since November 23rd. I was using aquarium salt for 5 days but stopped against other advice and started using almond leaf boiled water instead. I think he got worse after that [I really can't tell] so I started using salt again 6 days ago. I have been using 3.33 tablespoons / 10 gallons as well as almond leaf water. My tank is 10 gallons and I do water changes every two days. I have a beta and a few snails. My parameters are:
0 ammonia
0 nitrates
0 nitrites
7.4-7.8 ph - I can't tell but I think closer to 7.4
I read on a website if after 5 days of salt and I see no improvement, I should up the salt concentration. I can't tell if he is improving despite taking pictures everyday.I am in Canada so it is tough to get medication, basically the only thing I would have access to is Melafix which I read was bad for them. I also read betas shouldn't be in salt water for more than 10 days and its been 6 for him. I'm just really confused if anything I'm doing is working... I can't tell if his tail is improving but his other fins don't look great. Please someone guide me. I'll attach some pictures of him on nov 24 vs now. First pic is him at the beginning and second two are today.

It doesn’t look too bad at all. He’s a beautiful fish!

Because it doesn’t seem too severe I’d stop with the salt for now. I’ve found Indian almond leaves to work great. instead of boiling them I just drop them in the tank and leave them. If you’re really super worried about this, I guess you can do partial every other day water changes, can’t hurt? or maybe try a stress coat (I use API stress coat) just give it some time. I wouldn’t do too much though, don’t want to stress him out.

Doesn't look like there is any fin rot at all. Just API stress coat and Wc every week of about 50%

Thanks for the advice I bought API stress coat today. How do I use it? I'm planning on adding in the dosage the back of the bottle during a water change tomorrow. After that, how do I use it? bc it says to use double the amount for healing.

So, I would say about 5-10 ml. 10 ml if you want to double dose BUT if you want the reg dose, 5 ml should be fine.
