I just set up a quarantine tank last night, last Friday I purchased a six-inch golden sevrum. He was pretty beat up he has a lot of fin nipping. I'm having a hard time getting him to eat is there anything that I can do to make him eat is there any other medications I should use to help him recover?

Can you take a pic of him? What size is the QT tank?

I would start with large, frequent water changes.

What have you tried feeding him?

It's a 21 gal I think.

Or a 15 gal I don't remember.

Give him something in there to hide behind or in. PVC works well for QT tanks.

Ok, I'm using aquarium salt, I think he has pop eye, what's the best treatment for that should I raise the temperature or lower the temperature aquarium salt or some kind of other treatment

Stop aquarium salt. I would do daily 50% water changes. Popeye in one eye or both?

It looks like it's both, how do I cure the pop eye bf he dies

If it's both, it's not from an injury. Could be poor water quality. I'd do those 50% changes daily and if it's not better in a few days, treat with an antibiotic.

Ok thank you, what temperature should the tank be.

I would keep the temp a little lower than you might normally, so you don't encourage bacterial growth. 75 - 78 F should be fine.

I think it's popeye, but I'm not sure. I'll lower temp
And keep doing water changes.

I have been changing 50% of the water, doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot for the Popeye. What's my next step chemical treatment?

It has only been two days, but if you want to start treatment, I would start with a combo like Kanaplex and Erythromycin

I'm curious why you think it's pop eye? His eyes might look a little cloudy but I don't think he has pop eye? Here's a severe case of it, but this is more what pop eye looks like
