Canister Recommendations 125-150 gallon range?

Hello everyone!
I currently have 1 emperor 400 HOB filter on my 75 gallon cichlid tank. I am looking at getting another tank, perhaps in the 125-150gallon range and I'm hoping for some advice on canister filtration. I have been reading and looking up as many reviews as possible. I see Eheims have a good track record and last a long time. Fluval (fx5 for example) have excellent reviews but are higher priced. SunSun seems like a cheaper version but I haven't see much in terms of poor reviews. I've also considered making my own canister filter (which I'll probably do just for fun either way) but I'm uncertain if it will be as effective as a purchased one.. considering using this guys build at the bottom of the page. The movies a bit long as he likes to talk but the build looks good.

Anyway, more to the point. What would you recommend for a 125gallon tank that I could keep on my 75 until I pick up the larger tank?

Thanks!

I love my sunsun I just order three more for the 55 and 280. One will go on the 55 and the other two will go on the 280.

I cannot recommend enhime classic, mine didnt last very long before air was getting into the head.

I have a jbj reaction 4 that I love so far. here is link.

I'm also getting a bigger tank, prob a 150. I will be getting a fx5 and moving a aqua clear 110g HOB to it. here is a link to the fx5 new for $240.

I have Aqua Top which is basically the same as SunSun...I have both CF 400 and CF 500 and haven't had an issue with them. Good price, great customer service.

Great! Thanks everyone! I'll put an order in soon, hopefully this will help clear my cloudiness and speed the cycling I've had so much trouble with

Alright, found two of the most likely purchases for me... anyone more knowledgeable than I able to compare these two? I'm not sure I want to get into UV filtration... do I? Seems like one more thing I'd have to change or could blow up somehow?

Thanks.

I like the one on the bottom but never used either.

I have a UV on my jbj and I turn it on every so often but mainly it stays off. you would sure like the UV if you have a ich to deal with though. I doubt you will have any prob's from the UV, as far as leaks or blowing up

I have the one on the bottom. I like having the option of having a UV sterilizer personally but majority of the time it is off.

The only time I have them on is when I'm preppy my tank for new fish.

I've got 2 Rena XP3s on my 75 and love them. They are easy to maintain and have provided trouble free operation for the last 2 years. I clean 1 filter every 3 months, so each one runs 6 months before a cleaning. I could most likely stretch that to 6 months and run them for 12 months if I wanted too.

I'm not sure which would be best for your size tank, but ehiem filters are some of the best around
