Canister filter leak, how to move tank to clean up?

so this morning I noticed my tank "evaporating" faster than normal. after a few minutes of investigating, I found my canister filter has been slowly dripping away out the side for the past 5 days. Probably a total of 5 gallons of water. there is water UNDER the stand. I am going to drain the tank, and move it the best I can and clean up the water. any advice on the best way to do this? thanks in advance

wish I had one or knew someone that did. hoping there's not much damage to the stand.

is there a way to get the bottom side of the stand dried, without having to flip the stand? could I put a fan facing the bottom of the stand?

You could or maybe even a hair dryer? What's the space like between the floor and bottom of the stand?

Although its probably best to get behind and under in case you miss a spot..
I'd get it away from the wall and flip it personally..
Is the canister cracked? Can you fix it or have another?

bottom of the stand is plywood, so it sits flush with the floor. I got it emptied, pulled tank, flipped stand and dried.canister isn't cracked, I think it just didn't get completely closed last time I cleaned it out, so it's kinda on me. oh the joys of having an aquarium . on the plus side, I finally did my rescape I've been wanting to do

That's what I've always been worried about so I stick to a sponge filter..
You'll end up flooding everything

Yeah, at least there is a plus! I hope the clean up was successful

One of my canisters sits in a 5 gallon bucket in case there is a slow leak... In the case of a big leak I would still be in trouble. My other canister sits in a couple gallon Rubbermaid bin... That saved me the other day when for some reason the seal didn't, well, seal!

You have some bad luck. Why not just buy two new canisters and put the pads in the new filters? If you are trying to clean up under the stand and get some paper toilets and put them under the stand if there is room. Or maybe a mop?

that's a great idea, I'll have to start doing that. clean up was successful, but I haven't had time to get the canister going again, at least I triple filter that tank, lol

new scape

Well that sucked but human errors . I've had a problem where I was siphoning my tank and I walked away when I came back the bucket I had over flowed and there was about 5 gallon on the floor and the thing is since it was in my bedroom the floor is rugged. I had to use lots of towels to try to dry it out. Good luck!

that sucks, I've had nightmares about that. I'm glad my floor is tile...my wife actually made me put down tile before I could get my tank, lol

Smart! In about 2 years when I go to college my parents are planning on making the floor wood since rugs are hard to clean especially when there are water spills. At least with wood and tiles you can easily soak the towel or mop it but with a rug you have to keep pressing on the rug. Rugs also trap dirt easily and sometimes a vacuum doesn't pic it up.

Get a dehumidifier, an industrial model if possible. Totally worth it
