would my tank fit a pair?

PS: by no means am I rushing to buy one or two I just have an idea that becasue the RTS gets 5-6 inches and so does the galaxy pleco I want to fit another fish that's gonna be the same size or bigger in there but have more color to it than the current ones.

your pleco and shark will take up pretty much the bottom area..your parrots will be middle/top dwellers..IMO you have room.

oh that's awesome. I saw some at the fish store and they were gorgeous.

Now to do more research on care and all that stuff before I move forward with the plan.

if you can give any advice I would love to hear it. of course I will reading everything in this section too

My parrots are always in the bottom surface digging. The female is very teritorial too! That's a lot of waste so filter well.

Good morning,

I also think you have plenty of room for 2 Bloody Parrots. I would suggest that you purchase both and add them at the same time (funds permitting of course). Although 1 would survive, having a buddy of its own kind will make a big difference in the demeanor of the fish. You'll get to see so much more of the natural behavior by having 2.

Keep us posted!

Having had a shark, I can honestly say that, in my opinion, you'll need a larger tank for him. They go through fast growth spurts and, as their size grows, so does their aggression. I had to rehome mine to someone with 125 gallon tank.

As Ken suggested, buy the 2 at the same time. Study the tank to see which 2 seem to hang out together They love terra cotta pots to feel safe in. They like that hideaway kinda theme. Get a few decos like that as your shark will claim one also. Good Luck and get some pictures!!

so yesterday my daughter got some money in the mail for her bday (which is tommorrow) seeing as the 55 gallon is her she of course said go to the fish store.

The store had 3 big ones (I would say 5 maybe 6 inches its the size of my palm easy)that have been in there for about 10 days now that someone no longer wanted after talking to the people there they said it was best to get one or 3 so I got only one.

We have two different size pots in there right now and big buddy (my kid names all our animals) is active and happy so far eating no problem at all.

Kick the RTS has been fine, he is just tiny but no one is trying to chase each and he has his skull that he loves. the pleco same thing.

My daughter LOVES watching him (we are assuming here she decided its a boy lol) and BB will follow her finger across the glass which is cool.

I wasn't planning on getting one so fast at all as I had no plans on even going back to the lfs before the 20th. They said they don't often get them in so if they are still there on the 20th I may get another one but for sure I will get more pots.

Congrats on the new Bloody Parrot! Beautiful!

I hope at some point that you can go ahead and get him a buddy of his own kind. You'll see a big difference in the fish when you do.

Enjoy! These are wonderful fish.

I will for sure.

question if they don't have the big guys there when I go on the 20th would it be ok to get a little one if they have smaller ones?

I have only seen the one I got and 2 other big guys there before, they said someone had brought them in cause they got bored with their tank.

Good morning,

I've never had any issues adding Bloody Parrots to my tanks already stocked with Bloody Parrots. All sizes.
