Can you grow Anubias half-emersed?

Could I grow Anubias so most of the plant was underwater but the top few leaves emerged from the surface? I know it can be grown completely underwater or completely out of the water, and I've seen Anubias grown with the risome underwater but the leaves above water, but I was wondering if it could be grown half-and-half like this?

Yeah, anubias are pretty much the hardiest plants in the aquarium hobby with (java fern and java moss) they will grow anywhere they can

Anubias actually tends to grow better emersed, so yes, definitely.

Sounds good then. I think I will get about a 15 inch tall plant and grow it with about 10 inches of water. I think that will look quite good with the top few leaves out of the water.

I have one that is recently broke the surface of the water and is now a few inches above it and seems to just keep on growing!

Today I got an Anubias congensis that I'm going to try this with.
It's not such a big plant because it was a bit expensive (I could have got a big Anubias barteri, but I already have an A. barteri so wanted to try a congensis) but I'm going to grow it on a raised rock to get the effect I want.

Yep, just don't submerge the rhizome in the substrate and you should be fine!

I had a large anubias that grew out of the top of the tank. The leaves that grew in air were a darker shade of green and far larger than those that remained submerged.

All aquatic plants do better when they have emergent/floating growth, because science and what have you. Better access to CO2 and the proper light spectrum and all that. It's all very complicated and scientific and big words.

@Fettucini. Hahaha LOL I laughed for 5 minutes over this!!!!

I've used something similar as an explanation I didn't want to get into!
