Can You "daisychain" Filters?

Say have a bit more mech in the first one and the second be only bio? Thoughts?

I don't think so. They do make booster / pre-filter that addresses your concern. I've seen comments in various threads of people who use these boosters and are quite pleased.
Here's an example.

Like canisters. Yep. I'm doing it in one of my aquariums. Just have the filter that's actually going to be running to be situated at the end, so that it pulls water through rather than pushing.

I have an Eheim and I believe that they are a gravity/siphon feed where they don't actually suck the water in as much as they push it out. Though regardless it (the media container with the actual pump) would need to be at the end of the "chain". Makes me think I could just build an additional media chamber but that still doesn't help filter more gph. Makes me wonder what the relationship is between the two - gph and volume of media - or if there is any.
