Ok so I got 4 dwarf lobsters because I tested my water at 2 different LFS #1 & #2. I did a fishless cycle with fish food. No water changes. Around 4 different kinds of plants. I cycled for 4 weeks.
I tested my water for 4 weeks at LFS #1. The tube was very/darker green at the 2nd week of testing so there's a bunch of ammonia. The 3rd week I tested again at LFS #1 & #2 and the tubes were very pink/purple, so there's a lot of nitrite/nitrates.
Today this last week I tested again and the LFS #1 says the water is fine, so I got the dwarf lobsters from them. Then I went to LFS #2 since they sell snails and shrimps. I tested my water here also and they said the water is fine, there's only a bit of ammonia(yellow) and nitrates(maybe blue/light blue? I forgot). So I got some some red cherry shrimps.
He started to ask me about my tank since the shrimps are sensitive to water quality and this is what I'm getting first for my just cycled tank lol.
I told him I did a fishless cycle. He was like ****. He says that's impossible to do. He says he doesn't know how I can cycle a tank without fishes. And then it's me who went "****!!!" after I got the lobsters. He says my tank isn't cycled then... ? I told him I tested my water here a week and and there's a bunch of nitrites/nitrates.
I also didn't put any kind of chemicals besides some seachem flourish nutrients for my plants. He says my ammonia and chlorine would combine to make "chromine/chromium"? I forgot what he said it would make.
He seems confused how I got it to cycle. So he told me to put in 1 cherry shrimp in my tank only and see how it does for 2 days. Gave me a bunch of their fish poop.
Now I'm scared of putting in my lobsters in the tank... Can they survive for 2 days in the small bag?
Thanks for reading, I could really use some advice.
