Can Red Cherry Shrimp Interbreed With Blue Rili Shrimp?

Hey guys I currently have a newly cycled 5 gallon tank,
Housing 4 Yamamoto shrimp, 6 red cherrys and a two blue rilI shrimp.

I'm unsure of the sex of one of my rilI shrimp, but the other one is deffo a female as she pregnant,


is this a male?
Or has one of my cherrys made her pregnant?

 

They are the same species and can/will reproduce
Neocaridina davidI var red are your red cherries
Neocaridina davidI var rili are the blue rilis
usually their offspring are the wild color
Your other rilI may have done the job too though so keep that in mind

 

Is the other rilI pictured a male then?
I can't quite sex them tbh, I've been calling the belly a saddle and then realised I've been calling it the wrong thing for months!

Do you know at all roughly how far she is and when I shall be expecting them.

 

They both look to be female, the rilis that is. So the bottom pictured rilI has mated with one of you cherries.

 

I did previously have two other rilis, unsure on the sex but was much more solid in colour and brighter. But they died due to my tank no being fully cycled and a planaria worm problem.

 

the pregnancy will last about from 20 days to a month depending on conditions but I'd say they are pretty easy to care for :]
Not sure how far a long she is but the eggs look developed enough to say about a few days?
By mid April you will have shrimp babies ;]

 

Owww I can't wait, at least I've got enough time to shrimp proof my filter and make some mess moss ledges for them to hide in.
I think she may have fell pregnant in the last week when I changed the heat from 80 to 76, majority of them molted and they was dancing around the glass in what I've learnt is a mating dance?

What food would you suggest for the babies?
I'm currently feeding micro pellets by hiraki.
