Can My Plants Be Saved After An Algae Outbreak?

So I had to make an emergency 10 day trip back home and while I was gone my aquarium was over taken by algae. Thankfully I only lost 1 Cory out of all my fish while I was away. (My dog sitter fed my fish but couldn’t do a water change) I got home and did a massive water change, cleaned the algae off EVERYTHING and did a bleach dip with my plants. Two days after the WC and bleach dip they look white, yellow and brown but the stems are still a healthy green. I dose the tank with Easy Green twice a week. By looking at the pics can these plants survive or do I need to rip them out and replace them? I am a plant newbie so I don’t know if they can recover.

 

Instead of bleach try peroxide. Kills algae and not the plants. Bleach is bleach and harder on plants. I’d add a root tab to the base of the sword plant. What type of fish are in the tank?

Cories, Serpae Tetras, 1 Black Phantom Tetra, Tiger Barbs and a Polar Blue Convict Parrot Cichlid

 

Was wondering what that last fish was.

 

I would say cut the stem plants and cut the dying leaves off the amazon swords and see what happens. If the swords root structure wasn't effected you might see new growth.

 

In the future, your fish can fast for 10 days with no problem. If you feel you must feed them, then have dog sitter only feed once or twice while your away and provide the sitter with pre measured portions of food. Also, do a big water change before you go.
