I just bought another fish tank.(40 gal) I found a really good deal on a 20-29 gal aquarium stand. Will it hold my tank?

it depends on what type of stand it is Wood/or metal how stable it is and how much longer your 40gal is then the stand

I would say no, the 40 gallon is a very different size than a 20 or 29. do you have the dimensions of the stand and tank? welcome to fishlore though

Is the stand used or new more importantly what is it made of . Is it a brand. And a picture would be helpful

also... 100lbs of difference in the weight rating could make a pretty extreme difference. That's not the kind of thing you should leave to chance; if you do decide to go for it, please test the weight up to 400lbs before placing the 40G tank on the 20G stand.

I don't know the dimensions of those tanks off the top of my head, but I have to assume the tank will hang over the edge of the stand, putting pressure on the glass and creating a cantilever. No matter what it's made from, if it's used, etc etc I would NEVER do that. (I do have some experience in the matter as both my boyfriend and I are studying to be engineers; he has more experience than I, however, and when I mentioned it to him, he made a "Oh jeeez" face and said 100% no way.)
