I have a large completely cycled tank (150 gal) and a neighbor is moving and would like to give me her fish. Right now I just have a pleco and a rope fish and two 6" catfish that I rarely see in the tank. the fish she wants to give me are as follows 3 pastel tetras. 2 tetras that are shaped like neon tetras 5 cory catfish, 2 algae eaters, 2 gold barbs, and 2 rainbow fish one male one female. Would they be compatible?

First figure out what catfish you have. Some catfish can get to extremely large sizes and may eat the tetras. Often Catfish need large groups or schools.

Ropefish, when you update your stocking, need 5+ in a school.

What are the Algae Eaters? Try to get pictures or look them up. Your tank won't be able to handle three big pleco's and CAE's (Chinese Algae Eaters) are very aggressive, won't stand each other as a species, and suck the slime coat off of large fish.

Rainbow fish are okay but you will need to buy more so they can be in a school of 6+. This goes the same for each species of tetra and the gold barbs.

Be warned Paste Tetras are dyed fish, they've been through a lot of abuse, and may not live long due to long term injections.

I haven't seen the algae eaters so I don't know what kind they are .I will go look at them on the weekend. The catfish I have are synodontis not sure what type I have had them for about 8-9 years now and they are between 4-6" in length. They seem to get along well with the rope fish and the large pleco. I had no idea that ropefish needed to be in a group. I did have another one but they seemed to fight all the time and I think one might have killed the other. I will definitely purchase more of these if that would make the one I have happier. The pleco I have is just a common pleco I think and he is 11-12" long. he is about 8 yrs old I think.
I am aware the pastel tetras are dyed fish and I would never purchase any (I don't believe in doing this to fish) but I wouldn't mind taking them from her if she was going to destroy them anyway.
Would the catfish I have eat these fish she is offering me?

What kind of rainbows? Threadfins would be ok in this setting, but many kinds would be too aggressive.

I am not sure I will go look at them on the weekend and take pictures. The person that is rehoming her fish also has a pea puffer, I know that would be a good match for the rest of my fish. I am not sure how she kept him alive in her community tank I thought they required a heavily planted small tank with very selective tank mates
