and any suggestions are welcome!

MacZ

No, the Angel will likely eat the pencils, and the cories need cooler water and can stress out the Rams when those breed. Rather take hatchets instead of pencils and scratch the cories completely.

Maybe switch the rainbows and tetras for a midswimming rasbora and up the number of cories or replace them with a species of loach. Keep in mind the gourami will need a lot of cover from floating plants, branches and high growing plants.

3)
1 x Farlowella Catfish
6 x Silvertip Tetra
5 x Cardinal Tetra
2 Apisto Cacatuoides
Decide between the two species of tetra and double the number. I'd go with silver tips, they fit the biotope better than the cardinals, if you are dead set on A. cacatuoides. If you should go for rather Blackwater-Apistos cardinals are the better choice. Pencils would be nice and fitting for the top.
Keep in mind all Apistos need sand substrate.

Make that 5 and add 6 to 12 of a species of dwarf loach or kuhlis. Keep in mind the paradise fish need some cover on top and may be aggressive.

5)
5 x Golden Laser Cory
6 x Marble Hatchet
5 x Lemon Tetra
2 x Bolivian Ram
5 x Glowlight tetra
Scratch the glowlights, up the lemons and cories.

Moonee

Ty, do u have any other suggestions?
also i do plan on putting a thin layer of sand on top of my plant substrate

MacZ

My suggestions will end you up with a biotope tank and no plant substrate. ;)

Otherwise try to stick to 3-4 species per version and look up the species.

No plant substarte...uh
I would do a biotope but i have only 1 aquarium...

Moonee

I dont want to do a biotope for this aquarium

I was just saying i would do a biotope if i had a different aquarium

Ouse

Honestly, I predict any of the suggested biotopes would fare better. You’d be using fish all from the same region, so they’d all be compatible parameter wise and temperament wise (latter applies in this case, but not all).

With the forest theme, you’d be mixing fish from different regions and possibly with different requirements to one another. “Themed” tanks aren’t often the most fish-friendly places, because they prioritise aesthetics over the fish’s needs.

No matter how correctly done the forest theme is, at the end of the day creating a biotope is the more better, practical solution.

Moonee

uh ok thx for your opinion!
The reason i dont wanna do a biotope is that i would have to change alot of things from plants to substrate and more from biotope to biotope, but its something i would do if i had more than one aquarium

Your very right to do what you want (well... I implore you to do what's best for the animals). That's why I said I have no further ideas.

I choose my fish first, then look into parameters to see if they are all compatibe, within parameters
thanks for your opinion tho :)

Can i keep a pair of julidochromis in a planted 37 gallon?
in a community tank?

carsonsgjs

Not a community fish unfortunately - they require certain parameters (hard water and high ph) that most community fish will not tolerate and they can be aggressive towards others.

Moonee

Then what can i keep? But are they able to keep in a planted tank?

Ouse

But are they able to keep in a planted tank?
Preferably in a tank with a big rock structure rather than a planted tank.
Then what can i keep?
As a substitute? We’d have to know more information, such as tankmates, pH and hardness.

Moonee

Nothing in the tank rn(i plan
to get it later (2022 or 2023)) lol

Ouse

Have you decided what other fish you will add in there though?

Moonee

yes, i made a few combonations and plant selection
