Can I put my mollies in my new 29 gal. tank?

I just bought a new 29 gallon tank and I already have a 10 gallon tank. The 10 gallon tank has 4 mollies, 1 glofish-tetra, 2 khulI loaches, and 1 clown pleco. The reason I got the 10 gallon tank was because the 10gal tank is too small for all those fish. I filled the 29 gal tank and used water conditioner. Can I put my mollies in there yet or how long should I wait. I currently have 5 danio zebras in there to start the nitrogen cycle but will the mollies help? Would they survive in the newer tank?

WELCOME to Fishlore!!!

You have serious stocking issues for your 10 galllon! The mollies should be in a 29 gallon minimum, the glofish should be in a school of 6 as well as the kuhlI loach. Mollies are huge on bio-load you can only have 2 in the 29 gallon if your planning on having other fish. Do you know the nitrogen cycle? If you are doing a fish in cycle you need to get a bottle of Tetra Safe Start or other products like this. TSS contains BB which will help start the colony. BB eats ammonia. I suggest rehoming the fish you have now in the 10 gallon and we can discuss about a proper stocking plan. I believe the 10 gallon isn't cycled judging by how many fish are in there. Do you have a water test? I suggest getting the API Master test kit which is the cheapest and reliable test kit. Don't get test strips since these are usually inaccurate. I suggest also upping the danios to 6.
TexasDomer can help. Sorry but its late and I have to go to bed. Got school tomorrow and won't be able to respond till 3pm

I have had my 10 gal tank for over a year and have only had a couple fish die. I haven't heard of the tetra safe start but I'll pick some up tomorrow. My local fish sold me the fish and I know now that they are in it for just the money. When I got the 10 gallon tank I was too excited and did not do enough research before I bought them. Could I put my mollies in soon to help the nitrogen cycle or would it kill them?

Just take filter media from your established tank. Run it for a month and it will help seed your new tank and filter. I would only move the fish over if you use prime and Stability. Help keep them alive through the process. Heck I would use old tank water mix with new water help seed all my tanks.

Welcome to Fishlore

What are the parameters on the 10g? If possible, I'd return the danios and move all the fish you have in the 10 gallon over to the 29g. I can't imagine the 10 gallon has stable water parameters with all those high bioload fish you have. Move the fish over as well as the 10 gallon filter and filter media to the new tank. Water holds no beneficial bacteria so it would be pointless to use any of the old tank water.

I would get Seachem Prime as a water conditioner as well as Seachem Stability to help cycle the tank. Let us know what your results are out of the 29 gallon after everything has been moved over. You'll want to complete the schools of the tetras and loaches but don't add any more fish until you're cycled.
