Can I plant Java Fern On This Lava Rock

Hey, so I would like to know if it would be able to plant my Java Fern on this Lava Rock. I got it from the Ocean in HawaiI when I went on vacation and I noticed that it still has some ocean plant debris on it, is this okay to put in my tank? I am soaking it in a separate bucket of my fish tank water.

UPDATE:
I have successfully tied the Java Fern to a Lava Rock, and it's doing great! Before I tied the Java Fern to the rock, or placed the rock in my aquarium I boiled it to kill all of the bacteria, and remove toxins. Next I let it soak in stome of my aquarium's water for 1 hour, then I tied there Java Fern to the rock, and placed it in my tank.

One capful of regular bleach (no scents) to 2 gallons dechlorinated tap water. Up the rock for three minutes, remove to a bucket with 2 gallons of tap with a couple capfuls of Seachem prime for 15 minutes. After that you can super glue Java fern on the rock, glue then immerse into the same prime infused bucket for about 5 minutes. Any plain super glue gel works great.
