Can I move betta to bigger tank?

So I first got my betta almost two years ago, at the time I didn’t really know much and bought a gallon and a half tank to put him in. (I know way to small) then I upgraded and put him in a 2.5, then a 3.5. Finally I have him in a 5 gall. I was wondering, would moving him into a 10 gallon tank be too much? He has natural plants and a few ghost shrimp in with him now, is it possible I could add a few Corydoras if I move him to a 10? If not that’s okay but I was just wondering.

Also, I already have the ten gallon and it is almost done cycling.

He would be fine. In nature they could be found in ponds from mudpuddle size to big lakes. The bigger the betta gives them more room to exercise their swim muscles and a bigger tank gives you more time to correct mistakes. Edit to add a 10 is kind of small for a cory, however if you upgrade to a 20?

Bettas are solitary fish by nature, and domestics have specifically been bred to be very aggressive. They’re more suited to slow, solitary living, like they’d have (mostly) in the wild, with their own territory. Sure, some bettas do okay in communities, but it’s really not ideal. (Excluding inverts)

From what you’ve said, you seem to be very caring with your betta. The betta would love a bigger tank, but he would also love to be alone in it. If that isn’t possible, I think he’d be best in the 5g.

Ok sounds good, I’ll just stick him in the 10 with lots of plants and decor and places for him to explore and maybe get a few more ghost shrimp (he just ignores them) maybe sometime in the future I’ll do a 20 gallon community tank. Thanks guys!

Guess my betta is an exception. I had 10 cardinal tetras in with him and they all ignored each other. They’re in the 75 gallon now but not because of aggression.

I have three of my bettas in 10 gallon tanks. I also have bettas in 2.5, 3, and 5 gallons. Some of my fish like the extra space, a few of my fish are really stressed by it. I have 11 bettas currently in various set ups. I think it depends on the fish sometimes!
