Is this True?if so why?

By siver sharks do you mean bala sharks or Columbian sharks? They both go by that name.

I assume you mean Bala Shark (Balantiocheilos melanopterus) instead of Columbian Shark (Hexanematichthys seemanni) when you say 'silver shark'.
Do you mean Redtailed Shark (Epalzeorhynchos bicolor) or a Redtailed Catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus)?? You can mix Bala Sharks with Redtailed Sharks but you can't mix them with Redtailed Catfish. But the size of Bala Sharks have to come into consideration. Your tank is going to have to be pretty big to house Bala Sharks. And if you have a tank that large then you shouldn't have any trouble with a Redtailed Shark.

Actually John the Latin name has been changed to Ariopsis seemanni. This was very recent.
Honestly with he bala sharks yes they are compatible in a large aquarium. No smaller than a 125.
If you're talking about the Ariopsis seemanni, then the answer is no. They have much different habitats. They live in brackish until adulthood then saltwater.

sharkdude: I mean the Bala shark.
Rogueagent94: it is a redtailed shark and I do mean Bala shark,I do have a very large tank 450ltrs or 123g,would that be big enough?
I was thinking of getting 2 of them would that be okay or do I need to get a larger group?
Thanks

What are the dimensions of the tank?
If you get the bala sharks get at least 5 since they are schooling fish.

150cm x 55cm x 56cm I think that is about 120 us gallon or 450 -460 litre.

That's a 5ft tank and almost 2ft deep. I would say go for at least 5 bala sharks depending on other stock.

Yeah I agree with SD. Get at least 5. I had a group of 8 and they seemed pretty happy. But you need to be careful while stocking the tank as Balas are pretty big waste producers. And yes, you can keep Redtailed Sharks with Balas in that size tank.
