Can I Mix Red Cherry Shrimp With Red Rili Shrimp?

I have a 40 gallon tank with a cherry shrimp colony and I have a Red RilI Shrimp which is carrying eggs right now and I'm keeping them in the same tank. I wasn't too kean on mixing the two so I'm keeping the rilI shrimp in a breeder box kind of. I made big vents on the bottom and sides and added a plant and hiding places and an airstone. I would like to have a colony of both breeds but is it possible to do so in the same tanks without any dividers?

 

They are the same species and will interbreed. There’s no compatibility issue but you might not want the muddled colors. Plus none of the offspring can be considered “pure” particularly if you want to sell/give them away

I'm curious, would RCS with rillI cause muddling? Assuming both are red varieties of course. I assume the solid color RCS would be the dominant gene and so the rilli's lack of pigmentation that causes the stripe would just simply not express itself.

 

Mixing varieties of the same species will eventually cause your colony to produce more and more wild types.

That may be so, I think when I said muddled I meant mixed or non pure coloration. According to neo family trees they are closely related but I’m not too knowledgeable about their genetics

 

The eggs of the rilI shrimp hatched but the breeder box sank when I wasn't in the room so they got mixed with the cherry shrimp. So I'll just leave them there for now.
