Can I leave the mystery snails eggs in the aquarium?

My mystery snail just laid her second clutch. The first was laid outside of the tank and I moved it to a Tupperware. Not sure if it’s viable. She just laid a second larger clutch inside the tank (we made sure she couldn’t get out again). Is it possible to leave it there until it’s near hatching and then move it? I’m certain lots of things in the tank will eat the babies if it hatches there but as far as incubating, it’s in a pretty perfect spot.
The tank contains a betta, tetras, rasbora s, ghost shrimp and a few different types of snails.

As long as they're not submerged it's fine

Agree! Hopefully you'll have some tiny ones in a bit. Not sure how they will do with the "Betta" though.

Good Luck!

I don't want to come across all doom and gloom but Please be aware of how many mystery snails you will have if you allow all the eggs to hatch. If nothing in the tank will eat the newborns and you allow all the eggs that will be laid before she is done to hatch you could conceivably end up with a thousand or more mystery snails.

I allowed one clutch of eggs to hatch and ended up with 70 mystery snails. I lost a few along the way but right now I have at least 60 or them. They are now almost 4 months old. I suspect they will start laying eggs soon since they are already as big as their mom was when she started laying eggs and I have observed them mating.

My little lady laid at least 2 clutches a week for well over a month. For a while it was every other night. One clutch she laid was huge. It had to have had at least 250 eggs in it. Most of them were around 100 eggs. I know this because of the one I allowed to hatch. It was one of the smaller ones.

I’m aware. We are only planning to allow one or two clutches to hatch and then destroying any clutches laid after that. We have another tank set up for them after they hatch that we will keep them in until their big enough to give away. A few friends will take some and the rest I’ll try to give to local fish shops. We plan to keep 3-5 of the babies ourselves. Also, how do you destroy clutches? Just toss them and they dry out and don’t develop?

I wrapped mine in a paper towel, crushed them, put it in a zip-loc bag and then tossed them in the trash. I wanted to make sure there was no possibility of them hatching out in the wild. Probably over kill but I feel better about doing it this way. We burn our burnable trash so there is absolutely no chance of eggs surviving.

Have you tried squashing the small ones on the glass, that normally works

I have a betta that refuses to eat baby snails or eggs. When the baby snails are overrunning the tank, I take out the plants and decor and soak them in a 10% bleach solution for a bit. Then rinse them well, and baby snails are killed and sitting at the bottom of my bucket. Sometimes there are upwards of 100 dead when I do this. This will work for any kind of infestation. I have since removed my second mystery snail, to avoid any more clutches being laid. Other than that, I crush any babies against the glass that I see in the tank, and wipe away any egg clutches that are on the hood.
