Can I leave oto and snail alone for 10 days?

Hello, so in my dorm room I have an oto, a betta and a snail in a 3.5 gallon tank. I will be going back home from March 20th to the 30th. So, my question is: would it be alright to leave the oto and snail alone in the tank while I am gone? I'd rather not bring the entire tank to and from as not to stress the fish, so I plan to leave them in the tank and bring the betta back with me in the smaller container I bought him in. I have algae wafers that I was previously putting in the tank for the oto, but my betta started bloating and I found out that he was eating the wafers, so I stopped putting those in because I don't think that the oto was even touching them, but even without them my oto seems nice and fat (see picture). So, if I clean the tank and leave an algae wafer or two before I leave would this be possible?

 

I think they will be fine. I would just do a WC before you leave and not drop an algae wafer in there incase hes not eating them so you don't come back to rotted food and any water parameter issues. They will find stuff to graze on for the days your gone.

 

Let your algae grow a little before you go. They will easily survive off that.

Should I do anything differently to encourage algae growth? Because at the moment, I am having no visible troubles with algae, I just do a ~30-40% water change twice a week.

 

As long as your tank is cycled and well established your snails and otto will find plenty of stuff to feed on.

 

We tend to over clean our tanks or you could try upping the lights on period a little.
