Can I leave my African Clawed Frog

Can I leave my African Clawed Frog outside over the winter? I am in Canada and the plant zone is 2-3. We see a lot of minus forty but I have heard they are winter hardy. Has anyone done this? What's the coolest they can handle? Google just told me they can survive in northern climates but they didn't say what that actually means. Thank you!

 

if its anything like here in montana I would say no. but I could be wrong. I wouldnt chance it

but -40 is extreme.
I wouldn't chance it.

I don't have ACF's myself but I would not take the chance to try it. Just curious, do you want to release your frog, in a man made pound, in your backyard?

That profile link that Lucy provided showed a temperature range that did not go below freezing. I think that needs to be kept in mind. The UK, although it is on the same latitudinal line, has a much milder climate, closer to that of South Carolina.

My frog moves around and has to hang with the big fish or she kills everyone, so I was just thinking that if she could stay out over the winter it would be better than putting her in her 5 gallon inside for who knows how long. Now that I think about it though, even if I did keep her in an outdoor pond so she has space she wouldnt be able to come up for air do to ice... so I guess that answers the question for me. Puddles are already turning to ice each night and she is in her five gallon just hanging out. I wish the pet store would have told me she was a murderer before I got her, I also wish I would have thought to check online... darn impulse buys... She likes her five gallon though even though she is full grown, It would be bigger but I keep the water low for her, she likes to stand on the bottom with her nose out of the water for hours on end, silly thing
