Hi, I have a 40 gallon tank with:
1 baby Oscar
6 small African cichlids
5 tiger barbs
1 albino algae eater

(I know that oscars grow big and I have a 75 gallon tank to put him in)

I have no aggression at all and everything is going well.
Here is my question I have a canister filter rated for 100 gallons and a hang on back filter rated for 50 gallons is that too much filtration??? I also have a heater and live plants

Thankyou!!

Extra filtration is good for tank.

I would say you are underfiltered with just the one filter. When buying filters don't go by what they are rated for. Go by the gallons per hour instead and in my opinion all tanks should have at least two sources of filtration on them.

There is no such thing as over filtration however with over filtration comes a lot of flow or suction! I have a AC 110 on my 40 breeder and I keep small fish in my 40 breeder. The AC 110 has a lot of suction!!! It sucked up 5 of my lambchop rasboras! Only 2 survived. Many of my shrimps also were killed.

Your wrong on under filtration and the op doesn't have enough for the bioload on his tank. Under filtration is much more of a detriment to a tank than overfiltering is. You do know the flow on an AC110 is adjustable right?
