Can I have sand in my 55g tank with UFS?

I don't like gravel rocks that much, I really like sand.

I have a tropical fish tank, 4ft wide.

It's got heaps of amazon swords we grew ourselves.

We have an underground filtration system though, could that ruin my chances of sand?

I also have catfish, would that be a problem?

I want that fine, nice sand that doesn't cloud the water when I clean it out. I forgot the name.

I would also like to install a Sand Fountain if I do get sand.

I have tetras, loaches and such, the basic. I'm getting a peacock eel or 2 soon in the coming months.

Any problems that could go wrong?

Thank-You. QUICK, fast and good replies would be very much appreciated.

Sand doesn't work with UGFs. It would be a good idea to update your filtration to a canister or a large HOB like an Aquaclear 110.

Dang ...

I have a UGF and an external canister I clean out every few weeks. The external canister is a BowinI B916 or whatever. It is a great filter and keeps my tank very clean. I'll see if I could remove the underground filtration system.

Make the switch to sand - your fish will love it, you will love it, and it's easier to keep clean. Pool filter sand (PFS) is a great choice.

Thanks for your help. I'm only still very young, but I LOVE MY PETS. When my uncle and pa comes over, we will discuss it.

Thank-You.
