Can guppy grass live in ponds?

Anyone tried guppy grass in outdoor ponds? I am in Socal desert, so night temp in winter is above 40F (4C) , although summer day temp can go as high as 120F+ (50C). Pond was a convert in ground concrete hot tub for 8 people, it's about 4.5 ft deep and 400 gal.

Think Guppy grass can live there? and should one put guppy grass in ponds? Would they take over and be pesty?

I have it outside in tubs. While it doesn't get quite that hot here, it does get over 100° F in summer, and it was down in the upper 20's last weekend and it's still green.

So yours just float about in the pond or they were weighted down somehow?

Is your pond shaded at all?

I live in Northern California— temperatures maximum around 110 and it’s survived outside in 50 gallon tubs, I could be wrong but I’d think the extra gallonage and depth should allow it to survive.

Personally, I would advise against it. Not because it would die but because this is how invasive species get introduced. Unless it’s in a raised tub far, far away from any water sources, it could get washed into a local water source and reek havoc.

My "pond" was an inground concrete hot tub, away from any water sources. I also live in the desert, so no river etc., Lots of man made lagoon, and 'water' on golf courses, but again none of those were connect to any river or lake etc.,

That sounds perfect. It’s also 100% your choice, just a reminder to be careful :D
