Can anyone ID this tetra?

Yesterday I bought 6 fish from PetSmart that were labeled as white cloud minnows and confirmed to be them by the staff who sold these fish to me. I placed them in a 10 gallon tank with two kuhli loaches, one elephant ear betta, and a snail. After observing them more closely, there is absolutely no way that these fish are minnows. They are clearly some type of tetra, but no research has given me any similar looking fish besides an ornate tetra called Hyphessobrycon bentosi or Hyphessobrycon Durbin, but it mentions that these are only occasionally brought into aquarium trade. Additionally, no similar tetra appears on any PetSmart website. I want to ensure that these fish are in the right conditions, aren't going to grow too much, and are compatible with my current animals but I need to first know what the heck I am caring for.... What fish is this?!

 

Looks like hyphessobrycon bentosi, or the ornate tetra.

 

How could anyone identify that as a WCMM?

Does appear to be the ornate tetra which I've never heard of so thanks for posting. I thought red phantom tetra, similar markings.

 

Shipments from wholesalers to stores often get mixed up and a weird fish can end up at a Petsmart or a Petco. At an independent fish store the owner or employee unboxing the shipment would probably notice. Whereas at a big box store it might go unnoticed or misidentified. To be fair, sometimes there are some very knowledgeable fish people at big box stores, sometimes not.

Definitely a Hyphessobrycon species, though. I agree, they look like ornate tetras for sure. Identifying the species 100% won't matter too much when it comes to caring for them. They'll all have similar behaviour and require similar water parameters and diets to other members of the Hyphessobrycon genus.
