Ok so I have a question and need help. So on Friday night I did a water change and found 1 baby fry guppy. His mum looked ready to drop on Friday (I will put pictures up) so I put her and baby in the birthing tank but the baby got out of the gap and mum didn't settle and looked very distressed in there and I read she can abort the babies so I had to let her back in the main tank. So on Saturday she looked a lot slimmer and still only 1 baby my son named gumball. So I got gumball a net breeder to live in. I've looked In the tank everywhere and no babies so today before I fed the big guppies I noticed she has a pinky/yellow/orangey bit where her gravid spot is meant to be then after she ate it went black again. DOES THIS MEAN SHES PREGNANT STILL OR NOT ? Did she and the other fish eat them? Could I have sucked them up when I did a water change ?And gumball doesn't look like a baby fry I've seen on the internet does anyone know if he's older or not like can someone say he's x amount of days old. This is my first time with guppies and babies I'm very new at this. I have a 64 l tank

If you want my best guess the fry is about 3-5 days old. Not much older. They grow fast if they can find any food at all. Guppies can drop just a few fry. They are normally on about a 30 day schedule but not always. I currently have two females that drop small batches fairly randomly. They might do it again in a week or maybe not for a month.

Thank you. Do you think she is still pregnant as she's still big well bigger then her sister, her sister has been the same size since I got her but the other one has just grown bigger then Went smaller and is still got a bit of a belly on her

She's pregnant. She probably will be for the rest of her life. You never know if they are carrying 10 fry or 50 so it's hard to pick a date until they get into a pattern. She'll probably square off about a day before she drops and get a blocky appearance. Nothing you can count on 100%. I wouldn't make her live in a breeder net constantly. Some floating weeds and just check her often would be best for her. You'll have all the fry you can handle soon enough. And she is a very nice looking female.

I've been raising some nice guppies on and off for decades and breeder boxes can cause more problems than you can imagine. Premature births, stillborns, and even mother's dropping dead during labor a few times from the stress.
