Can Anyone Guess The Genders Of Some Of My Goldfish?

MrFishy222

Hello, Just a quick post to ask if anyone here could guess what genders any of my 3 smaller goldfish are. They are all around 10 months old which I am aware might be too young to tell yet but I thought I'd try my luck as I cant seem to work it out myself. All the information I can find online about goldfish sexing seems to be to do with fancy goldfish instead of commons/comets or shubunkins so wanted to see if anyone here would have an idea. (Don't worry they do not live in that tank they have a nice big pond to themselves lol.)

I think you long tailed comet, right hand side in one of your photos of all three is a female. Roundest of them and a bit of an “outie” in the under carriage. That doesn’t mean the others are male.
The other thing to do is to look at them from above. Females will have a rounder profile, males a thinner profile.
The vent is waste and sex organs or the “under carriage”. My female has a when viewed from the side a bump or outie. Male does not.

Are you concerned about mating/spawning or just curious? Are they offspring of other fish in pond?
Anyhoo hope that helps.

Thank you! For the most part Im just a bit curious. But it is also helpful information if they do spawn in the pond so I can identify which ones are likely the parents.

Hopefully they are still to young for it to be an issue for a season or two.
Francis, helped me out a bit, when I first got her she popped out a few eggs. She was a rescue. No eggs since but they live inside and no direct sunlight.
Your fish living in a pond will also probably have very vivid colors especially during spring/summer months.

In general, a female goldfish has got a broader abdomen.
