Buying Fish From Walmart - I Didn't Want That One!

OK, so first, rant on the woman at Walmart because I'm really angry and want to rant to fellow fish people.

I decided that I would get some fancy guppies because they're pretty and get along with the other fish in my tank (according to the internet). The store I usually go to, Earl May, was out, so I went to Walmart because they get their fish in today. They had a bunch, and I picked out two VERY SPECIFIC fish to the lady. She caught one I didn't want, so I said, "No, I don't want that one." So she let it go. I wanted a specific red one, a specific yellow one, and the one blue one. I told her I wanted the red and yellow one in the corner that were RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. She went and caught two ugly as sin barely red ones (including the one I had JUST said I didn't want and were in the MIDDLE of the tank) and quickly plopped them into the bag before I could say anything. She knew I wanted three, so she said, "Now you have to choose one more!" I was upset, but I didn't say anything because I'm way too timid. I said, "I want that yellow one." Because I wanted the red and yellow ones the most. She didn't even know I wanted the blue one, but she went ahead and said, "Oh, no, you want the blue one." THEN SHE CAUGHT IT AND PUT IT IN THE BAG. Before I could say a word! I wanted the yellow one more, and she had NO IDEA I wanted the blue one! She just DECIDED FOR ME that I was getting the blue one! I didn't say anything because she was SO FAST and had already TIED THE BAG SHUT. I wanted to say, "um, no, I wanted one red, one yellow, and the blue one. Not these two ugly barely red ones." But I just smiled and walked away from her and bought the fish.

Now I have two male "fancy" guppies that I do not like at all. I don't want to kill them (and thus get a refund) because I would feel horrible for killing fish just because I don't like them. I don't know how to get rid of them as I don't have any friends that could take them. The manager at Earl May rather likes me and takes my unwanted fish in exchange for others, but there is this lady there that I'm pretty sure hates me. She always glares at me when I come in and talks in a snappy tone when I call to tell them I'm bringing them some more fish. Like I said, I'm very timid and I don't want to get her mad at me. I already brought them some Mollies yesterday that grew up from fry, and she seems to get very irritated with me if I come in more than once a week, especially with a fishy gift. I tried making something on craigslist, but under the "Free" thing it says no pets.
How do I get rid of them?! I don't want them to die...it's not their fault the lady at Walmart was a donkey.

Do you have any classifieds other than Craigslist in your area? If it were me though I'd take them back to Walmart and tell the manager what happened and ask to exchange them.

Will Walmart take them back? It's possible, depending on the individual store, that they'll refund live fish. If not though, I think you can sell your fish on here. As for the rude lady at Walmart, you can probably anonymously complain and get her in trouble, or, if you're lucky, fired Wish you luck on getting rid of the fish, and kudos for not wanting to kill them

Um, I don't believe so. I don't live in the biggest city, so the only classified I can think of is the newspaper. Then again, I've never tried to give away a free something before.
I called Walmart like you suggested. He said they can't take back fish because they might have gotten some kind of disease from my tank (Yeah, sure man, as if it matters because I've seen a lot of dead fish in your tanks).

Welcome to the forum.

I know we're very different people... I stand watching, tell them which ones I want.. Nope, not that one, that one.. repeatedly until I get the ones I want. If they can't do it (or don't want to) I ask if I can catch them myself... doesn't always work of course, but they get the message. If they refuse to catch my individual choices I'll say "ok it doesn't matter" and I won't buy any.

I know it's not easy (I also was quite timid, when I was young) but you really do have the right to get the ones you want.

Would Earl May take them off you?

Haha, Earl May would probably most definitely take them off me. The manager likes me, but there's a full-time employee that works there that hates me. She gets more and more angry the more I come in. I don't know why. But it's put me off from giving it to them like I usually would.

Oh, my Walmart does. I don't know about other Walmarts.

Mine doesn't , and it's not her fish, so don't mind her.

I would go into Earl May, and if they're both there I would ask the manager in front of her if you can take them in. Ask the manager when's a good time, and then take them. If the manager isn't there, go back, until he is there, then say "I got some fish yesterday at Walmart", etc etc.....

If the manager isn't there when you take them, just dump them on the counter... "here's those guppies the manager told me to bring in..."

Whoops forgot quotes were a thing most forums do.

That works, I guess. I do need some more conditioner soon anyways.
