Buying Bettas Online???

Has anyone bought their bettas online before? I've seen online auctions for fish and all manner of aquarium supplies on sites like aquabid.com. Seems kind of sketchy to me but man, some of the bettas I've seen online are BEAUTIFUL.

Not gonna lie it was tempting but as with anything online you never really know what you're gonna get or what condition it'll be in when it arrives. Just curious if anyone has any experience with that type of thing?

I believe that some people on this forum have, but I cannot pull out any names right now, hard to remember

Personally, never ordered fish online. I get very worried, and always expect something terribly wrong to happen, so I don’t order online. Whatever I see in my store is what I can buy, unless it’s specially ordered.

I wouldn’t have any trouble shipping out to someone, just don’t want to wait for that type of thing to come in.

That's my concern too. I've had a number of things damaged in shipping and I can't imagine how stressful it would be on a fish. Of course, idk how the fish at my local PetSmart get there either. Not sure if I even want to know. They do have a surprisingly variety of bettas and tail types. I check them out every time I'm there but most of the ones I've seen look like babies.

So if you are on Facebook I know a couple of breeders and importers that a lot of people swear by

Though personally I have never ordered anything offline because I don't have a PayPal account

I have ordered online fish once and shrimp once. I did not pay for overnight for either. All 14 fish I ordered arrived alive on arrival, despite there being an unforecasted snowstorm the day they were sent. Shrimp were also all alive. I don't think it's as big of a deal as it seems, as long as you buy from someone who knows what they're doing.
