Bumblebee Goby Depression

Hey,

I had two Bumblebee Gobies. One recently died( I do not know why)
Ever since one died, my other one has been acting strange. He constantly swims up and down the tank walls and swims everywhere a lot. He rarely rests. He still eats well.
I was told to not put anymore bumblebee gobies in my tank because they are very territorial, but I never seen my gobies fight each other. They were very chill with each other.
Is my bumblebee depressed? Should I get him a another friend? Or is it just something else? Also, based on my pics, can anybody tell if it is male or female?

Apparently they are brackish. I wanted one too, but because my tank is freshwater I skipped on the bumblebee goby. Are they in a freshwater set up?

Yup. I went to a fish store and they said that the Bumblebee Gobies are ok with freshwater sometimes. All of their bumblebee gobies lives in a fresh tank along with endlers. It is weird because there were a lot of bumblebee gobies and endlers in the same tank, up to the point where they were little crowded. I was confused because I thought they were territorial. The tank was very clean and planted neatly though.
I got my bumblebee gobies around 4 months ago, and one died last week.

Don't get another one until you are able to move this one and all your other fish to a bigger tank. I could be very wrong but I have a feeling this one is acting like that trying to find a way out of the water it is in. I highly recommend you try to do a water change every few days instead of every 2 or 3 weeks until you can get them a bigger home.

Does that mean the water is too dirty for my bumblebee? The last time I changed water was last Sunday. Maybe the water quality I am putting in the tank is wrong?
I put in tap water but treat it with aqua safe plus.

They are usually sold as freshwater, and can be kept in freshwater (hard is best), but do best in brackish. Some experience them wasting away in freshwater after a time. There are some fully freshwater species, this is not one of them. They can be territorial, its recommended to get 6+ in order to spread aggression and for them to display naturally. I wouldn't get any more of these guys, see how this guy gets on from here. Keep the water pristine for him through water changes. What else is with it?

Do you have a way to test your water? If you don't have your own test kit you may be able to take some of it to a fish store to have them test it for you. You can't know how high the nitrates are or if there is ammonia in the water without testing for it. I have to assume the nitrates get pretty high between water changes if you only do one every 2 or 3 weeks with this many fish in a 5 gallon tank.
