So my angel is still a small guy and this started today he basically tries to eat my halfbeaks and just shoves around my gourami any clues on what's happening ?

How big is your tank? What are your parameters? What kind of decor?

  3. AnthonyHutchison Member Member

30 gallons all my Perameters are fine and my decor is a few fake plants with a big open area in the center

But what are the results of your tests exactly? 30 gallons might be too little space for two potentially aggressive species like angels and gouramis to attempt to coexist. There will always be tension as they vie for territory.

I don't have the rest with me but everything was at 0 and my Ph is 7.2

It doesn't sound like your tank is cycled if nitrates are at zero. What's your water change routine like? What kind of filter and media are you running and how do you clean it?

    I have minimal nitrates

I just got over a big nitrate spike

There low but I'm not sure if there zero or not but it seems like it

I do water changes 3 times a week, I run a marine land penguin filter

I think that unstable water chemistry can trigger aggression in some fish. However, the biggest problem I think is the fact that an angel and a gourami make bad tank mates.

I got the gourami about 2 weeks ago and they were just fine together it's just today it happened

What kind of gourami is it?

Maybe his hormones kicked in and that triggered his territoriality.
