Is it true that Buenos Aires tetras are plants eaters? I'm planning on planting my 29 gallon and will my school be a problem?

It appears to be one of the laws of fishkeeping.

Buenos Aries Tetras eat Plants.

That's why I've never kept them and it probably puts a lot of people off keeping them.

I wouldn't. I had a school of 12 Buenos Aires Tetra and they even munched on Java Fern. The only plant the never seemed to touch was Anubias. Anything else they seemed to eat eagerly. I even started feeding spinach and lettuce hoping they would slow down on the plants. It didn't work. This was just my experience keeping them though.

My school didn't. The only one it nibbled was a wisteria.
