Bubbles from gills

I have a female koi I got from petco a couple weeks ago. She’s healthy, and in a cycled tank. She’s always blowing bubbles, out of her mouth and her gills. I have another betta and he never does that. She isn’t trying to build a bubble neat, because she does it wherever she is in the tank. She’s a bit lazy, but isn’t sick. Is that normal?

Bettas after taking air from the surface will occasionally have a bubble escape from their mouth or gills which is normal.

That is normal. Bettas have an organ called the labyrinth organ that allows them to breathe small amounts of oxygen.
She could also be building a bubble nest.

Bettas can be lazy. But it could also be caused by ammonia. What are your water parameters?

Some females do it too. Don't ask me why, bettas are strange creatures .

the water parameters are good. She lives with a nerite snail and he is doing great. I wasn’t worried about her, then when she tried to eat burst of bubbles all crashed out of her gills and mouth. She had jumped backwards and shook herself violently. She had done the jump on purpose, but it scared me. She could only eat a couple pellets before this happened. This only happened when she eats, and I’ve tried two different foods. She always stays at the top of the tank, but she can go to the bottom, it’s not swim bladder disease.

She just does it wherever she is in the tank, I don’t think she is trying to build anything.
