Bubble Nests And Betta Happiness

Hello, I have a happy, interactive male betta. When I came to feed him today he was constructing his first bubble nest near his leaf hammock, which was fun to watch. I am wondering if bettas build bubble nests regardless of their health and happiness, or is a bubble nest an indicator that your betta is doing well? Thank you.

 

it mean you taking a super good job of your betta and hes really happy with where he lives. he does it cause he likes his home so he thinks its a good place to have fry lol so cute!

 

Supposedly it's a myth with bubble nests and happiness. It's purely instinct. If the water temperature and ph are just right it'll make a male start to build. Once they age they can lose interest because they're past their "prime." I've had a male for almost a year and he made his first bubble nest just last week — could be he's at the age now where he wants to mate and in his prime or seeing it's getting warmer it's kicking in that instinct.

 

My male has bubbles everywhere?

 

As stated above, bubblenest and happiness have absolutely nothing to do with each other. It's purely instinct. Think about this, if you're kept in a tiny cell, wouldn't you still want to walk around? It's not because you are happy, it's cause it's your instinct to do so. I've also been to a pet store where I found a betta that could barely swim to the top of his cup had a bubble nest.

 

My bettta had like an inch thick bubble nest..... it was weird

 

Even my betta is building bubble nests from the past 1 week
