Hi all my DG made his first bubble nest this morning

If there does end up being eggs how long after the nest is made do the females lay? I dont actually expect any to survive more likely be a tasty snack for my other fish, but it would be interesting to see

Is my male DG likely to get aggressive now? Do they defend the nest?

Sorry for all the questions, ive never seen a bubble nest before

From what I understand the male will defend the nest and babies even from the female and will start chasing her away. He is the one that takes care of the babies, Alison;)

Based on experience the male will accept a female once the nest is complete. When the female finished laying her eggs, the male will evict her. Then he becomes super territorial towards everything and he will care for the eggs until they hatch!

Thanks all, i keep checking but she hasnt been near him or the nest all day. Maybe she wont lay any not that i would know what eggs look like amongst all the bubbles. He isnt defending it as of yet so i guess there isnt anything in there
