started a reef tank 3 weeks ago did a water change of 10% 2 days ago just live rock. Sand for substrate, couple of red tip hermit crabs raoming about. anyways started to get some brown algae on the sand bed and on the glass is this normal for a couple of weeks into the process?

Definitely. Diatoms are really common, I struggled with it for several months after I upgraded a 20 gallon to a 50 gallon. It's ugly, but nothing to worry about.

It's common. Mine cleared up on its own once my water parameters were getting more and more stable and my cycle was finishing up. Nothing to worry about.

I am going through my second brown algea stage on mine, from I understand its normal, and not to worry about it, I think the second came from the purple up I used.
