Brown algae help!

blair2019

Hello,

I have a 20 gallon with 6 glofish and 4 danios. I’ve suddenly had a spike in brown algae in my tank. I regularly clean the tank to get rid of the algae but it comes back quickly. I’ve reduced the lighting to 6 hours a day. I have live plants and they are just covered with brown algae. Should I yank them out? Kinda hard to clean them. I’ve got a few crypts and amazon swords.

All water parameters are good!

You could try Seachem Phosguard, that's worked for me. Also, if it's a new tank it will probably go away on its own after a little while.

Thanks I’ll give that a try. Tank is about 4 months old, I guess I should give it more time?

At that point it doesn’t sound like time to me, maybe your water supplier changed something? Diatoms are usually caused by excess silicates.
